Notification of Financial Aid
We will notify you when your financial aid package for the upcoming year is ready to view at the beginning of April. Scholarships for new students are awarded by mid-April. Renewal scholarships for continuing students are added in July, after spring grades have posted.
Viewing Your Financial Aid Awards
Awards can be viewed on the Money Matters tab on the My Cal Poly Portal. You will be able to view your financial aid and print your award letter.
Determining What Aid To Accept
You will need to accept or decline scholarships, loans and work-study that is offered to you.
Check Your Email and To Do List Regularly
The Financial Aid office primarily uses email to communicate with you and will request documents on your My Cal Poly Portal To-Do List in order to confirm information and finalize your financial aid package. You should check your email and My Cal Poly Portal periodically to ensure that you’ve submitted all documents and completed all processes required for financial aid.
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
FERPA protects confidentiality and limits our ability to release financial aid information to anyone other than the student. This includes your parents, so make sure you are checking your email regularly. You can give your written permission for our office and Student Accounts to speak to anyone you authorize by completing the on-line Authorization to Release Information on your My Cal Poly Portal.
